Joining copper

Viega ProPress Copper offers a choice of three sealing elements so you can customize your installation based on your project’s needs. Pick from EPDM, HNBR and FKM sealing elements, each designed for a range of temperatures and pressures. Whether process water, non-medical gasses or chemicals, no other press system can be installed in so many different applications.

Joining stainless

Viega ProPress and MegaPress Stainless systems are approved for more than 225 different process piping applications like acids, ethanol, carbon dioxide, kerosene and vacuum lines. With Viega ProPress and MegaPress Stainless, you get dependable solutions that will not only withstand harsh environments but also will save time and labor during installation. If your connections must be completely clean and entirely flameless, your best choices are Viega ProPress or MegaPress Stainless.

Viega MegaPress Stainless is used for joining Iron Pipe Size (IPS) stainless steel. In 304 and 316 stainless steel, Viega MegaPress Stainless is approved for use with off-the-shelf Schedule 10 through Schedule 40 pipe.

Joining black iron

Complete with adapter fittings that allow easy transitions between connection types, Viega MegaPress is the reliable choice for joining black iron pipe. The first carbon steel press fitting in the industry approved for gas and fuel oil applications, Viega MegaPress reduces installation time and increases safety and peace of mind on the job.

EPDM Sealing Element

The EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) sealing element is used in applications like potable water, process water, hydronic heating, fire sprinkler and compressed air. Viega press fittings with green and black Smart Connect feature dots indicate an EPDM sealing element. It has an operating temperature from 0ºF to 250ºF (-18ºC to 120ºC). EPDM with 316 stainless with the green dot is approved by NSF-61.

HNBR Sealing Element

The HNBR (Hydrogenated Nitrile Butadiene Rubber) sealing element is well-suited for applications that include propane, diesel and fuel oil, as well as other various industrial gases. Viega press fittings with yellow Smart Connect dots indicate an HNBR sealing element. Its operating temperature is from -40ºF to 180ºF (-40ºC to 82ºC). It is specifically designed to meet the requirements of ANSI/CSA LC-4 for CSA approvals for distribution of fuel gas systems.

FKM Sealing Element

The FKM (Fluoroelastomer) sealing element is recommended for applications such as solar, district heating, low-pressure steam, various chemicals and compressed air systems. Viega press fittings with white dots indicate an FKM sealing element. It has an operating temperature from 0ºF to 284ºF (-18ºC to 140ºC) with the capacity to withstand heat spikes up to 356ºF (180ºC).

All Viega ProPress fittings are designed with cylindrical pipe guides to keep the pipe straight and protect the sealing element during assembly. Fittings that do not have cylindrical pipe guides risk making an unsecure connection. Without the pipe guides, installers can damage the sealing element. Viega fittings are pressed before, after and on top of the sealing element in a single step, which creates a permanent, secure connection.
