Carbon steel for mechanical applications
Viega MegaPress is the first press fitting for hydronic applications in black iron pipe. MegaPress is flameless and eliminates heavy equipment and messy cutting oils. Fittings can be installed while the system is live, meaning you don’t have to shut down and drain a system before making connections.
MegaPressG provides the same benefits as MegaPress with a HNBR sealing element designed to stand up to gases, oils and other hydrocarbons. With IAPMO, ICC and CSA listings for natural gas and ASME B31 testing, MegaPressG has you covered.
MegaPress XL, the newest edition to the MegaPress family, offers the same reliability and ease of installation that Viega customers have come to expect. Available for 2 1/2” to 4” black iron pipe, MegaPress XL features a FKM sealing element that provides better resistance to high operating temperatures, water-based solutions and hydrocarbons.
Approved for more applications than any other carbon steel press fitting system, Viega MegaPress, MegaPressG and MegaPress XL make secure connections you can trust. The Viega MegaPress system includes more than 250 different engineered fitting configurations ranging in size from 1/2” to 4”. While the MegaPress system is suitable for use with ASTM Schedule 5 to schedule 40 black iron pipe, LC-4 fuel applications require the use of schedule 40 pipe and fire sprinkler applications are limited to schedule 10 to schedule 40 pipe.
Stainless steel for mechanical applications
Viega ProPress Stainless is a complete pipe and fittings system engineered for harsh environments where piping may contain or come into contact with corrosive cleaning solutions. Available in two grades of stainless steel, 304 and 316, Viega ProPress stainless provides reliable performance and reduces downtime and preparation during repairs.
Viega MegaPress Stainless fittings can be used with schedule 10 to schedule 40 stainless steel pipe and provides the same speed, reliability and chemical resistance for iron pipe size (IPS) stainless steel piping. Whether you need 316 stainless in iron pipe size (IPS) or copper tube size (CTS) with EPDM sealing elements for potable or deionized water or 304 stainless in IPS or CTS with FKM seals for higher temperatures or corrosive chemicals, Viega has you covered.
Copper for mechanical applications
Viega’s ProPress copper joining system was first introduced to North America in 1999. Viega ProPress is the proven solution for nearly any industrial, commercial, or residential project. With three choices of sealing elements, Viega ProPress can be customized to suit nearly any application, from multiple grades of water to natural gas to solar heating systems. With Zero Lead bronze specifically developed for lead-free press fittings and valves and 316 stainless steel balls standard in ProPress ball valves, the entire ProPress copper system is ideal for potable water.
Fire protection for commercial and industrial buildings
Commercial and industrial fire protection installations shouldn’t take forever. With Viega ProPress Copper in 1/2" to 4", Viega ProPress Stainless 304 in 1/2" to 2" and Viega MegaPress in 1/2" to 2", you can install copper, stainless steel or black iron fire protection systems quickly and easily without heavy equipment, fire watches, messy cutting oil or wasted time. Viega ProPress and Viega MegaPress systems are suitable for NFPA 13, 13D and 13R fire sprinkler systems. They are also listed to UL 213 and FM class 1920. Viega MegaPress can be installed with Schedule 10 to Schedule 40 black iron pipe and is the only carbon steel press system in the industry with both UL and FM approval.
Viega ProPress Stainless is ideal for fire protection systems in industrial applications. Viega ProPress Stainless can withstand corrosive cleaners in industrial environments better than other materials.
MegaPress Stainless 304 provides yet another fire protection press-connect option for IPS stainless steel pipe with both UL and FM certifications pending.
EPDM Sealing Element
The EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) sealing element is used in applications like potable water, process water, hydronic heating, fire sprinkler and compressed air. Viega press fittings with green and black Smart Connect feature dots indicate an EPDM sealing element. It has an operating temperature from 0ºF to 250ºF (-18ºC to 120ºC). EPDM with 316 stainless with the green dot is approved by NSF-61.
HNBR Sealing Element
The HNBR (Hydrogenated Nitrile Butadiene Rubber) sealing element is well-suited for applications that include propane, diesel and fuel oil, as well as other various industrial gases. Viega press fittings with yellow Smart Connect dots indicate an HNBR sealing element. Its operating temperature is from -40ºF to 180ºF (-40ºC to 82ºC). It is specifically designed to meet the requirements of ANSI/CSA LC-4 for CSA approvals for distribution of fuel gas systems.
FKM Sealing Element
The FKM (Fluoroelastomer) sealing element is recommended for applications such as solar, district heating, low-pressure steam, various chemicals and compressed air systems. Viega press fittings with white dots indicate an FKM sealing element. It has an operating temperature from 0ºF to 284ºF (-18ºC to 140ºC) with the capacity to withstand heat spikes up to 356ºF (180ºC).
All Viega ProPress fittings are designed with cylindrical pipe guides to keep the pipe straight and protect the sealing element during assembly. Fittings that do not have cylindrical pipe guides risk making an unsecure connection. Without the pipe guides, installers can damage the sealing element. Viega fittings are pressed before, after and on top of the sealing element in a single step, which creates a permanent, secure connection.
