  • A competitor claims "unparalleled customer service," but doesn't give details to back that up. Press connections are the heart of our company, not just one of our pipe joining choices, and we pride ourselves on customer service. Call us anytime you have questions or need help. Our technical support team is made up of licensed contractors with years of field experience to help support your projects.   • Viega offers more fitting choices and is approved for more applications than any other press fitting system on the market, and also maintains more listings and certifications than other press fitting manufacturers.
  • Viega's Smart Connect technology allows installers to locate unpressed fittings during pressure testing. Without this, third party testing shows competitors can get false positives, particularly on smaller diameter pipe. Viega’s does not rely on notches or other reductions in the sealing element to identify unpressed connections.

Metals
  • A competitor claims to have a wider product variety, but Viega's breadth of product range speaks for itself. The competitor offers only an equivalent to ProPress Copper, but Viega also has ProPress Stainless in 304 and 316 plus the ability to swap sealing elements, giving Viega more approved applications than any other CTS press fitting system on the market.
  • A competitor claims thicker ribs on their gasket to produce a better seal. Viega's MegaPress, however, achieves all pressure and temperature ratings. It also meets more approvals, certifications, and listings with various sealing element designs tailored for the product and application for consistency and reliability.
  • Tens of thousands of MegaPress fittings are installed throughout the world in various applications, from steam to natural gas, with an excellent track record of being leak-free pipe joining solutions.
  • MegaPress fittings have a 420 stainless steel grip ring with teeth that bite into the pipe, securing the fitting on the pipe. This provides more mechanical strength than a simple steel grab ring. 
  • A competitor claims to have less deflection due to a deeper cup; however, deflection can happen with any fitting. It can also be mitigated through proper training and installation.
  • Viega is the only press manufacturer to offer press fittings in CTS copper, CTS stainless steel (304 and 316), IPS carbon steel, IPS stainless steel (304 and 316), and IPS copper nickel.
  • Viega fittings come bagged to protect them until installation.
  • Competitor fittings have plastic caps which create more jobsite debris and waste, and don’t actually protect the fittings or plastic ring.
  • Viega is the only press manufacturer to offer copper nickel, carbon steel and stainless steel press fittings in sizes up to 4".
  • Viega is the only manufacturer to offer press IPS valves up to 4" while the competitors offer only up to 2".
  • Jaws are designed specifically to work with Viega fittings, whereas competitors have designed their fittings to work with existing jaws.

Plastics
  • PEX-a, PEX-b and PEX-c only refers to the manufacturing process. It does not refer to the quality as all PEX is subject to the same ASTM F876 tubing standard testing.
  • PEX-b (Viega PureFlow PEX) has higher burst pressure capability - often 10% or more - as compared to PEX-a.
  • Viega PureFlow PEX has a greater resistance to chlorine and UV than its PEX-a competitors.
  • Viega PureFlow Press and Crimp fittings have the ability to be pressure tested immediately.
  • PEX-a manufacturers often tout their higher degree of crosslinking as a benefit. However, because PEX-a is a lower density PEX, it requires this additional crosslinking just to meet the same ASTM F876 requirements as PEX-b and PEX-c.
  • Viega PureFlow provides faster installation when compared to cold expansion for PEX-a vs. PureFlow Press for PEX-b. Cold expansion can take several minutes to connect, whereas PureFlow Press is complete in seconds for all sizes 3/8" to 2".
  • Viega PureFlow PEX and fittings can be installed in hot and cold weather without extended wait times for pressure testing due to cold temperatures or the possibility of partially made connections in hot temperatures.
