Viega Celebrates the Opening of State-of-the-Art Operationally Carbon-Neutral Facility in Ohio

September 12, 2025 | Viega

This new facility celebrates American manufacturing and the impact of press technology in today’s building infrastructure.

On September 4, 2025, Viega North America cut the ribbon on its newest North American facility in Mantua, Ohio, a milestone built on one simple promise: serve the trades with greater speed, consistency and innovation while raising the bar for sustainable manufacturing. The 244,000-square-foot plant brings advanced production, a regional distribution hub and a hands-on training center together under one roof. With a fully electrified low-carbon ecosystem targeting LEED Gold certification, this opening marks the beginning of an exciting chapter for Viega and its customers.

Why Ohio Is the Perfect Location for Viega’s U.S. Manufacturing Expansion

Press technology continues to transform how North America builds. Contractors choose press-fit connections because they’re fast, reliable and flame-free, ideal for today’s jobsites. Demand has followed. By expanding its manufacturing footprint to the heart of the North American supply chain, Viega can shorten lead times, boost resiliency and bring production closer to its customers across the eastern U.S. and Canada. The Mantua location strengthens Viega’s network, complementing existing manufacturing and distribution investments while creating new opportunities for collaboration with regional partners.

“The Mantua facility represents Viega’s continued investment in North American manufacturing and our dedication to building stronger connections with both our workforce and our customers. By integrating state-of-the-art production with hands-on training, we strive to not only advance innovation but also to provide our employees with meaningful opportunities to shape the future of the industry. This facility also allows our customers to engage with crucial industry education and witness production in real time, demonstrating firsthand our commitment to quality and the innovative solutions that will drive their businesses forward.”

Ohio’s manufacturing heritage, skilled workforce and logistics advantages made it the right place to grow. The opening reflects close partnerships with several foundational organizations like Team NEO and JobsOhio, partnerships that helped accelerate infrastructure, talent and community readiness.

Sustainable Manufacturing: Inside Viega’s Fully Electrified, LEED-Targeted Plant

Sustainability at the Mantua facility is the operating model. The facility is fully electrified, with major systems powered with integrated renewable energy that can scale with the plant as it grows, rather than fossil fuels. High-efficiency lighting and building systems, smart controls and heat-recovery strategies help reduce energy intensity. Automation and robotics increase precision and cut waste, while advanced quality-control systems monitor every step to protect product consistency and extend lifecycle performance in the field.

Viega Employees with products

Viega engineered Mantua as a carbon-neutral ecosystem, which begins with energy efficiency and responsible sourcing and extends to emissions reduction and verified offset strategies. The result: a plant that supports growth while aligning with not only long-term sustainability goals, but with the goals of Viega's customers, who are increasingly asked to deliver projects with lower embodied and operational carbon.

Press Technology Advancing Modern Plumbing and Building Infrastructure

The Mantua plant is more than a factory. It’s an integrated hub designed with Viega's customers' needs at the heart of it all.

Advanced automation & robotics: Robotic production cells and inspection equipment increase throughput, repeatability and dimensional accuracy—so pressed connections perform as expected every time.

  • Fully electrified plant: An electrical backbone enables efficient processes today and a clearer pathway to renewables tomorrow.
  • Energy-efficient design: The building targets LEED-Gold certification (November 2025) with a high-performance envelope, lighting and controls to reduce energy and water use.
  • On-site training center: Contractors, distributors and apprentices alike can see manufacturing up close and then step into the seminar center for hands-on demos, best-practice sessions and product education.
  • Regional distribution: With manufacturing and distribution co-located, finished goods move quickly to staging and outbound logistics—tightening delivery windows and improving order reliability.
Ribbon-Cutting Highlights: Celebrating Innovation and Community Partnership

Openings are about people. Mantua’s celebration reflected the teamwork behind the project. Company and community leaders joined to mark the occasion, tour the facility and meet the makers. Guests walked the catwalk, offering a bird's eye view into the facility's operational production lines, spoke with operations and engineering teams and experienced live press-technology demos in the training center. The energy in the building matched the pace of the plant: optimistic, focused and ready to go to work.

What the New Mantua Facility Means for Contractors and Distributors

According to contractors and distributors, there is only one thing that matters: consistency. Consistent delivery, consistent quality and consistent support from a partner who understands their schedules start early and never slow down. Mantua is built to deliver. With production closer to high-demand markets in the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, and distribution integrated on site, Viega provides faster and more reliable lead times.

  • Precision automation, in-line monitoring and manufacturing processes purpose-built for press-fittings ensure Viega's product quality is always accurate.
  • Seminar centers with instructors who understand the field and factory ensure timely and relevant training is available to all.
Driving Economic Growth and Manufacturing Jobs in Northeast Ohio

Manufacturing creates opportunity. Throughout the first two years, Viega expects to create approximately 68 new jobs for Northeast Ohio. These roles reflect a range of skills, operations, maintenance, quality, logistics and training, and come with the growth paths and safety culture.

“Today marks the continuation of a partnership that began two years ago when Viega committed to establishing its first Ohio production facility in Mantua. Viega’s commitment to quality, combined with Ohio’s manufacturing expertise and strategic location in the heart of the North American supply chain, gives the company a competitive advantage.”
Mike DeWine, Ohio Governor

Roughly 60 employees were on the floor during the opening, with hiring underway and plans to add a second shift as production and demand increase. Mantua brings new jobs, skills and investment to Portage County, and with it, opportunities for local suppliers, tradespeople and students exploring careers in advanced manufacturing. Viega is here to be a neighbor, an employer of choice and a contributor to a resilient regional economy.

Viega’s Next Steps: Expanding Product Lines and Training Opportunities

In the months ahead, Viega will increase output, expand its product mix and continue building the team. Production of ProPress® fittings is underway, with MegaPress® capacity planned as the plant scales. Viega will continue to add training capacity and course variety to support contractors and distributors across the eastern U.S. and Canada. All while continuously pushing forward sustainability, optimizing energy use, exploring renewable integration and refining processes to minimize waste.

“By increasing our manufacturing presence here, we aim to deliver products faster, give back to the local economy and ultimately continue innovating to meet the evolving needs of the industry. This facility serves as a testament of our unwavering commitment to our customers, today and for decades to come.”
Markus Brettschneider, CEO, Viega Group

This facility is part of a larger strategy to localize manufacturing, strengthen the supply chain and support growth across North America. It complements ongoing investments in U.S. facilities and distribution centers, creating a network that ensures consistency in delivering both product and support to Viega’s customers.
