Today’s Efforts, Tomorrow’s Vision

Sustainability is embedded in everything we do, and our goals are ambitious. At the heart of our plan is the goal of climate-neutral operations by 2035, with investments in renewables, energy efficiency and data-driven transparency.

Across our international operations, we’ve gotten to work putting these principles into practice. In the U.S., we are implementing initiatives that promote our global sustainability strategy, including:

• Facility Upgrades: Several U.S. locations have begun efficiency upgrades focused on energy use and emissions reduction. These include HVAC retrofits, lighting changes and smart building technologies to reduce electricity consumption.
  
• Transport & Logistics Improvements: In 2023, Viega began implementing a CO₂ calculator for shipping, along with improved route planning and packaging reduction efforts, cutting emissions and material waste.
  
• Plastic Waste Reduction: U.S. operations have adopted a recovery-first mindset. Recycled materials are reintroduced into production, and packaging processes are being overhauled to limit non-recyclable materials.
  
• Sustainability Leadership: We created a Sustainability Lead position who, with the support of department-specific sustainability officers, oversees the implementation and coordination of sustainable practices to ensure goals are met at ground level.
  
• Community Impact: Our team enthusiastically supports STEM education, community engagement projects and technical training scholarships, all contributing to a culture of sustainability beyond the company’s walls.

Built to Last, Built to Improve

Viega’s sustainability practices make an undeniable difference. From 2022 to 2023, we:

• Reduced energy intensity by 6.1%
• Lowered emission intensity by 5.7%
• Increased recycled material use, including over 20% recycled copper
• Expanded Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) to most products to ensure lifecycle transparency

We’ve also rolled out initiatives like “Don’t Incinerate. Separate.” to recover plastics and metals for reuse directly on site. Similar efforts in plastics regranulation are making an impact, too, helping us close loops and cut down on raw material demand.

Powering the Future Through the Viega Energy Program

One of our most ambitious undertakings is the Viega Energy Program, a strategic initiative to drive energy independence through investments in solar and wind energy. Viega Global has launched several pilot projects that include solar panel installations on factory roofs and open land, energy monitoring systems to track and optimize consumption, and are planning for wind energy integration at select sites.

This program ensures that wherever we operate, we limit our footprint and environmental impact as much as possible.

Viega’s future is rooted in responsibility. With our commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, ongoing investment in innovation and alignment with new CSRD reporting standards, we’re not just meeting expectations. We’re raising them.
